William Robert Owen Joins the Fam (3 Months Ago)

On December 17, 2013 at 12:16 am, our little man decided to make an early appearance. We've decided that he just didn't want to miss out on the Christmas fun. He was a little nugget compared to what we thought he'd be at 7 lb 3 oz and 20.25 in long. When the doctors keep telling you to prepare for a big baby, you don't buy a lot of newborn-sized clothes :) So we were shocked with such a little man.

Because he was 3.5 weeks early he was assessed and spent a whole 30 minutes down in the NICU where he quickly told the doctors and nurses that he was fine to be upstairs with mom and dad (which made them very happy) in the full-term rooms and nursery. We spent the first week celebrating his arrival and Christmas with both sets of our extended families at our place. Liam has been a very laid back baby from the start. He's such a sweet little man and really only cries when he's hungry (a man after my own heart). Jeff was able to be home for the first 2 weeks and I was home for 12 weeks. We love our little guy to pieces and he has brought so much joy to us already. He loves to smile, cuddle, and take in the world around him. We love to joke that we won the baby lottery, but I really think it's true. He's the best!

Since today Liam is 3 months old, I thought I'd share some fun pics and videos and milestones from the last 3 months.

3 Month Fun Facts:
  • Size Diaper: 2
  • Size clothing: 3-6 months
  • Nicknames: Nugget, Squishy, Little Man, Little Monster
  • Favorite Books: Where the Wild Things Are and The Hungry Caterpillar
  • Favorite Words: "hello" and "love"
  • Favorite Toys: Green elephant on his car seat, his mirror on his play mat, his jingling owl toy, and sometimes he thinks his paci is a toy
  • Favorite Food: Boobs
  • Activity: Eating is his favorite thing ever! Story-time in the rocking chair is another fun activity. Bath time is tolerable now (not so much until recently). He likes to try to eat his rubber ducky. But, really he likes to sit with mom and dad and "talk" more than anything. He thinks Dad is especially funny. He also loves to grab mom's hair and cuddle with it nice and close. Tummy time is good. He's getting stronger every day. He's also starting to sit up with a strong neck. He just started trying to "stand up" on his own as well (with help from mom and dad of course). But, bouncing on those legs is super fun.
  • 3 month highlights for mom and dad: The reflux we've been battling the last couple of weeks is now gone and we have our happy, non-gassy baby back :) He's also doing great at daycare and adjusting just fine to mom being back at work. His "talking" is the sweetest thing ever and his laugh melts our hearts every time.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I'll try to be more current on my updates. But, we all know how good I am at that ;)
